Riviana Foods is proud to announce our partnership with Mercy Chefs, a non-profit, faith-based disaster and humanitarian relief organization. In the wake of natural disasters, Mercy Chefs provides restaurant-quality meals to victims, first responders, and volunteers. The organization is deeply committed to providing meals for vulnerable people in underserved communities at home and around the world.
Background
This collaboration arose from the collective desire of the Riviana Foods family to come to the aid of local communities in Texas in the aftermath of a series of severe weather events which have taken place thus far this year. Having witnessed the fine work being carried out by Mercy Chefs on the ground, Riviana Foods saw an opportunity to further the reach and impact of this organization.
Our Contribution
So far, Riviana Foods has donated 2,184 two-pound bags of rice to the various relief projects of Mercy Chefs. This amounts to over 43,000 nutritious servings provided to the most vulnerable people in the communities who continue to suffer the effects of severe weather events in recent times. Riviana Foods is proud to provide rice of the highest quality to the chefs serving these delicious and nutritious meals to people in need.
Family Grocery Boxes
Working in conjunction with Mercy Chefs, Riviana is providing rice for the Family Grocery Box initiative. Natural disasters such as Hurricane Beryl, which impacted Houston in July of this year, have long lasting effects on communities. The Family Grocery Box program provides essential nourishment to vulnerable families. Each box contains pantry staples, fresh produce, and protein. In times of hardship, the importance of families having the opportunity to share a hot meal together simply cannot be overstated.
